What is SOMA?

SOMA is a space for reconnecting with yourself through breath, movement, and embodied experience. Created from a deep desire to serve others on their journey of reconnection with themselves and others, SOMA offers grounded and emotionally safe spaces where people can step out of the noise of everyday life and return to presence, feeling, and authentic human connection. Through guided practices, intentional environments, and shared experience, SOMA invites people to slow down, soften, and reconnect with what is already within them.

Experiences

SOMA currently offers Conscious Connected Breathwork sessions designed to support emotional release, nervous system regulation, self-awareness, and embodied presence. Over time, SOMA will expand into additional body-based and movement modalities, including practices focused on emotional expression, grounding, meditation, and relational connection. The vision for SOMA is to create a diverse ecosystem of experiences that help people reconnect with themselves not only mentally, but physically, emotionally, and relationally.

The Path to SOMA

For much of my life, I lived more in my head than in my body. While I could navigate life intellectually, I wasn't always connected to what I was feeling.

That began to change when I experienced Breathwork during a retreat in Mexico. It showed me how much wisdom, emotion, and aliveness the body can hold when we're willing to slow down, breathe, and be present with ourselves.

Since then, breathwork has become an important part of my own life and has shaped the way I facilitate sharing circles, retreats, and now SOMA.

I created SOMA to offer a grounded, emotionally safe space where people can reconnect with themselves through the breath. My hope is that each session offers an opportunity to slow down, become more present, and leave feeling a little more connected than when you arrived.

I'm a certified Conscious Connected Breathwork facilitator, and I'm grateful to share this practice with others.

FAQ

What is Conscious Connected Breathwork?

Conscious Connected Breathwork is an active breathing practice that uses a continuous circular breathing pattern to support greater awareness of the body, emotions, and inner experience. Sessions are guided and accompanied by music, grounding cues, and time for integration afterward.

People often attend breathwork to reduce stress, reconnect with themselves emotionally, process tension held in the body, or cultivate a deeper sense of presence and clarity.

Do I need previous experience?

No. Classes are open to both beginners and experienced practitioners. Guidance is provided throughout the session, including breathing instructions, safety considerations, and grounding support.

What might I experience during a session?

Experiences vary from person to person and from session to session.

Some people experience:

- deep relaxation

- emotional release

- increased clarity or insight

- physical sensations such as tingling, temperature shifts, or energy movement

- a stronger sense of connection to themselves and others

Others may simply experience stillness, awareness, or rest.

There is no “right” experience to have.

Is breathwork safe?

For most people, breathwork can be a supportive and grounding practice when facilitated responsibly. However, Conscious Connected Breathwork is an active somatic experience and may bring up strong physical or emotional sensations.

This practice is not recommended for individuals who are:

- pregnant

- experiencing serious cardiovascular conditions

- diagnosed with epilepsy or seizure disorders

- currently experiencing severe psychiatric conditions

- recovering from recent major surgery or serious physical injury

If you are unsure whether breathwork is appropriate for you, please consult a medical professional before attending.

All participants are required to complete a waiver prior to class.

What should I bring?

Please bring:

- comfortable clothing

- yoga mat

- water bottle

- small pillow and/or blanket

- journal and pen (optional)

- eye mask (optional)

Some props may be available at the space, though many participants prefer bringing their own for comfort.

Will I be expected to share with the group?

No. Sharing during integration is always optional.

Some participants enjoy reflecting verbally after the session, while others prefer a quieter internal experience. Both are welcome.

What if strong emotions come up during the session?

Emotional release can be a natural part of breathwork. The space is designed to support emotional expression in a grounded and respectful way.

You are always encouraged to listen to your body, slow down, pause, or stop the practice if needed. Support and guidance will be available throughout the session.

What should I eat before class?

It’s generally recommended to avoid a heavy meal immediately before breathwork. A light meal or snack 1–2 hours beforehand is usually best.

Please arrive hydrated.

How long are sessions?

Most sessions are approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and include:

- arrival and grounding

- breathwork instruction

- active breathing practice

- optional sharing

Specific session lengths may vary depending on the event.
